Surrounded and enveloped

Wow. I am not often speechless, but the dinner tonight certainly took away most of my words. The only thing the WINGS gals would tell me was that it was at 6pm and featured barbecued chicken. I pestered them to let me do something until Diane finally said "fine - do cornbread!" And I made herb butter on my own - it felt funny not to be involved in planning or helping with a  church supper! I had no idea so many folks would be there! It was such a treat to see people all together from so many parts of my life - dear friends, my close family, neighbors and townspeople, a lot of extended family from South County, customers and employees from the shop, and so many people from my church family. The money they raised will not only buy all of my vestments, but a lot of books as well. Imagine! It was a humbling and breathtaking experience to know everyone would work so hard to make this happen. I am really overcome with thankfulness tonight  - how lucky am I? Everytime I put on my vestments, I know I will take a moment to say a prayer for all of these wonderful people that are surrounding me with their love and warm wishes. What a special night.
